By 2050 the Census Bureau estimates that the US will be more racially and ethnically diverse than at any other time, becoming a majority-minority nation for the first time during this period.

Therefore, It is absolutely essential that our educational resources reflect the changing makeup of our classrooms to ensure that students feel welcomed and supported in an inclusive and diverse environment.

It can happen all of a sudden or over a long period of time. You wake up and stare at your alarm, 6AM, wondering if this really is the right career for you. The idea of a whole class of students quietly writing, revising, peer conferencing, and working on writing that they care about is an image that I dreamt about for years.

I admit that although I started doing reading workshop with my classes over twelve years ago, it took me another nine years to get up the courage to try writing workshop.  Something about the lack of control, I guess.
