"I’m a makerEd teacher. What’s MakerEd? MakerEd is a educational philosophy which celebrates the learning process which occurs when a person makes something interesting. I’m a woodshop-esque teacher in a math/science department at a very progressive therapeutic private school for students with neurological differences. My job involves a little of everything: lesson planning, curriculum building, community outreach, technology literacy, arts, crafts, engineering, mathematics, outdoor environmental education, wearing a tool belt, generally being awesome and so on. I don’t just create robots and woodcraft, I help craft children into thinking, problem-solving, engaged adults. When I’m done teaching young adults, I teach normal-aged adults at local makerspaces, such as TX/RX Labs. I regularly post updates on my work at www.woodshopcowboy.com, a blog at the crossroads of woodshop, education and technology."
