Top Ten#67: Cult of Pedagogy
Education is complicated. It’s a big, gnarly puzzle no one has been able to solve. For many, this is enough to drive them away, seeking solace in other fields. For others, it merely gives them something to complain about.
And then there’s you: the Teacher Nerd.
You find the work exhausting, yes. But you’re certain there are ways to make it less so, and you keep seeking them out. You recognize imperfections in our current system, yes. But you’re determined to contribute to making it more perfect. You acknowledge the complexity of this work we’re trying to do, yes. And this is what fuels you.
This site has been created to bring us together—teachers in public schools, private schools, and home schools, principals and guidance counselors and university faculty who believe that education is a field whose potential will never be exhausted, a problem that will never thoroughly be solved, but who will forever consume themselves with trying to solve it anyway.
Welcome, Teacher Nerd. You’re among friends.
