Top Ten#566: DataWORKS Educational Research
DataWORKS Educational Research was founded in 1997 with the single purpose of improving student learning. In 2000, the company published its first book on assessments, “Multiple Measures: Accurate Ways to Assess Student Achievement”. The company then broadly expanded the “data” in DataWORKS to include measurement of classroom instruction. By going into over 45,000 classrooms, DataWORKS began collecting student work to see what and how students were being taught.
What the company discovered was that when teaching practices improved, students’ test scores did too. Their focus then shifted to classroom instruction because they realized that teaching, rather than testing, was the key to student learning and achievement. Since then, DataWORKS has rapidly expanded in working with over thousands of schools from around the world.
Fundamentally, DataWORKS supports teachers and school administrators as instructional leaders and believes they are the keys to success in the classroom. That’s why DataWORKS offers various professional development trainings, workshops, and tools they can use to monitor, maintain, and measure their classroom, school, and district.
Through their weekly blog, they hope to share their wealth of knowledge with others and start great discussions surrounding the best practices of education.
